Break out the diapers because you can't add heroes to your party in the GH? I'm sure anet is aware that it's a little inconvenient but wanted to get the update out the door before coding a work around that will allow you to add heroes but not start a GvG with them.

Not only frustrating... I am shocked by the name of Etron... I'm french, and in France, etron means shit... We can no longer see our heroes in GH, nor their builds and stuff, but we are so so so glad to have a hench named Shit, this is really classy... Are there really nobody in France able to say the devs that this name is inappropriate ? /report Etron !!!
My GH was used, as many of us, to form complete groups to go to PvE missions, vanquish, dungeons, quests... No longer... It was an assembly point for the alliance, to facilitate the formation of the group for the mission, to avoid looking for everyone in the cities of the game and being able to group with a simple click, to avoid having to change district... The leader of the group went to the place of departure and comes back to take everybody in the GH with heroes and go to the mission, no time lost, heroes were stuffed in GH to gain time... No longer, because GH is now useless for PvE... And something useless isn't longer used...
Now what ? This !!!
"Hey guys, come on, we'll vainquish hidden city of Adashim", "ok where are you ?" "i'm in Dasha" "Ok guy, where in Dasha ?" "Oups i'm in inter dist !" "ok i come... what... where are you ?" "oups i changed dist, i don't saw you were coming..." "Well, don't moove now ok ?" "Ok" "Hey Guys should i come with you ?" "Yes there's no problem, come with us" "Thx, where are you" "We're in Dasha, inter dist" "1 or 2 ???" Rhââââââââââââââââââââââ
A npc giving the possibility to have a PvP or PvE GH is certainly possible, like in GToB, isn't it ? Or Heroes locked for PvP players or in PvP mode like PvE skills in PvP outposts, isn't it ? Locked but visible...
Bored...
And seriously... Etron is really an inappropriate name...

We're PvX.
Our PvE-only guilds use their guild halls to form parties, twink out Heroes, etc. Most of those guild halls have been chosen in order to maximize the convenience of having NPCs and the Xunlai Chest close together. A significant amount of plat was spent to put those NPCs in those guild halls just so that players wouldn't have to run all over the map in the different outposts to get from storage to merchants.
Our PvP guild hall was chosen more for its importance in training GvG, but even so, when people aren't playing GvG, they're still playing PvE, and the NPCs and storage are still more convenient than going to the outpost.
The update wiped all that out. My suspicion is that the update was implemented before it was thoroughly tested from a player's perspective. Yes, it removed Heroes, but, as Aka said up thread, it removed Heroes via a simple flag. It would have been better to have looked into making GvG work in the same way that Nightfall missions work: if your party composition isn't correct--i.e. if you have a Hero in your party--you can't enter a GvG match.
Oh, and I'll be really interested to hear the statistics regarding how many GvG matches were played over the weeks before the update and how many matches were played after the update, as well as how many guilds were represented before and after the update.

Although I don't mind heroes to be unavailable for gameplay at the Guild Halls, I find it a problem that I cannot upgrade my heroes anymore at the Guildhall with items, skills, runes, etc. The Guild Hall is THE place for me to retreat and upgrade, with all facillities at hand and no lag. At least allow them to stay in my party as long as I don't enter a battle...

Amazing QQ for a who cares issue. Then again its riverside and that's what people do here.
People meet in GH. Form group. Move to town. Add Heroes. Copy paste build from PvX/Saved Builds. Its PvE people. Armor tweaks? Build Tweaks? lol.

1. I must say, I'm really quite pissed off at losing heroes in the guild hall. Many PvEers used the GH as a staging area -- get people together, hammer out team builds. Well, now we can't unless we have enough people for an all-player party since we can't tune the heroes in the GH.

a. I very much doubt that. Simply return the GH to its previous state and add a check before entering non-scrimmage GvG battles that disallows entry and returns an error like "You have heroes in your party, numbnut" if someone tries to enter with heroes.
As has been mentioned before: You've already got places where entry is disallowed if you don't have Dunkoro, or if you do have someone who's not ascended, etc. I can't imagine how it would be hard to disallow entry because you have heroes.
b. If, somehow, having no heroes in GvG and having heroes in guild halls are absolutely, positively mutually exclusive, then... revert this update and to hell with GvG! If this problem just isn't amenable to a code solution that makes everyone happy, then there's a direct conflict between what's good for PvP and what's good for PvE. Now, I thought a-net had finally figured out which constituency was paying the bills... And I thought we were finally done hacksawing PvE players' game experience to enhance the experience of a comparatively tiny number of PvPers...
2. Don't like the henchmen all over the GH. Really would like UI option to hide them.
3. Some good ideas that bear repeating:

This solution is optimal. Guild leader/officers can toggle GH type by talking to the guild lord. Solves every PvE-PvP conflict about guild halls:- PvEers get the heroes they want; PvPers don't get the heroes other PvPers don't want them to have.
- Everyone gets their respective split skills
- PvPers get the super-duper-original henchmen cluttering up the place; PvEers avoid the clutter.

I can't believe all the whine going on in here just because you can't costumize your heroes in the guild hall.
It was so obvious they would fix it sooner or later.

Again a lot of people seem to care, and maybe if you played the rest of the game instead of hanging out on Battle Isles it would affect your guild/alliance.
For PvP it's a nice update to bring it back to early 2006 and making HA/GvG have a new play mechanic.
The question everyone is asking,
why does it have to eliminate a guild hall for easy PvE gameplay as well.
A Guild Hall should be for all in one use, not just for GvG's.
I have no doubt Anet will try to make a few small fixes to solve the current problem, they listen to the community and see what works or doesn't.

I'm pretty sure they will bring back the hero adding tab, but you simply can't enter a battle with any heroes in your party.

Could not agree with this more. IMO this is the most poorly thought out update so far. I am frankly quite stunned that ANet thought that this update was a good idea. Doesn't ANet know that there are MANY of us who focus 99% of our time in the PvE side of the game? Both my guild and our alliance are PvE based. We want the ability to have heros in the GH, and we want to be able to get rid of the PvP henchmen. And, if we could actually see the PvE versions of our skills in the GH, that would be greatly appreciated as well.
If this is the type of thing ANet is doing in GW, I can only imagine the lame stuff they have planned for GW2.

LOL - nice assumption, but we all know what happens when you assume...
PvE (1 week of Frenchway grind to GWAMM, if I can be bothered to finish it).
Highly active guild (do some guild of the week research) and alliance. Difference is we actually play instead of playing with barbie dolls in GH.
Nice try though.

I totally dont care about the QQin about "I cant stuff my heroes in gh". For you its taking all your time on gw.. cute. I've done it one time, took me like 35min in LA ~
And about the "etron" word, I never heard it for my entire life (and I'm french too), I search it on wiki & find thats from old French.. so I TOTALLY DONT CARE !

I also agree this was a pretty senseless thing to do on ANet's part. Either someone wasn't thinking, didn't care, or purposefully did this (and other similar things in the past) to throw in a handgrenade to 'keep us interested'.
I don't care to see the new Henchmen in my GH. They do nothing for me. Why should any of us be inconvenienced at all due to Anet's thoughtlessness or negligence. It's software, anything is possible.
Frankly, I'd be just as happy if ANet would completely divorce the PvE and PvP worlds, although I know some people do both (come up with some method to accommodate such people as an option).
Who needed a new chapter called 'Factions'? We've had two from the very beginning. And Anet exacerbates this division by updates such as this one. ANet, clearly you cannot manage both as one.
